To Stand for Election as President of Ireland, Candidates must:

*Be a Citizen of Ireland

*Be at least 35 Years of Age

*Be Nominated by at least twenty of the serving members of the Houses of the Oireachtas, or at least Four of the 31 County or City Councils - or themselves, in the case of a Former or Retiring President who has served one 7-Year Term.


If a Member of the Oireachtas or a County or City Council nominate more than one candidate, then only the First Nomination Paper received from them will be deemed valid.

Presidential Elections are conducted in line with Article 12 of the Irish Constitution and under the Presidential Elections Act 1993.

The President is elected through (Instant) Runoff Voting (described in the constitution as Proportional Representation by means of the Single Transferable Vote).

All Irish Citizens who are entered on the Current Electoral Register are Eligible to Vote.

MANIFESTO :

Doctor Obi's Key Pledge is : To (Comprehensively) Leverage the Office of President to (Robustly) Deliver a United , Sovereign , Sustainable , Independent , Peaceful , Fair, Equitable (and Prosperous) Island of Island - Around (or Before) the End of the Easter Season in the Year 2039 (or Thereabouts).

* Ensuring that all Irish Citizens (Worldwide) can Vote in All Irish Elections (and Referendums) irrespective of Where they reside.

* Ensuring that all Irish Citizens (Worldwide) can Stand for Elective Offices (during All Irish Elections) irrespective of Where they reside.

* Reconvening the New Ireland Forum as a vehicle for bringing together the parties of Democratic Ireland.

* Normalise the Meetings of the Good Friday Structures.

* Collaborate closely with the UK Government and reset Irish-UK relations.

* Build a future of economic prosperity through the Shared Island initiative.

* Promote funding for PEACEPLUS and Interreg Programmes.

* Increase the resources available to the Shared Island Fund by an additional €24bn.

* Increase staffing levels in the Shared Island Unit and introduce Specific Targets for each Government Department to come forward with new and relevant Projects.

* Explore opportunities to include common elements in school curriculums on both sides of the Border.

* Deliver a PSO to support direct Air Travel Flights between Dublin and Derry City , in addition to Direct Flights Between Enniskillen and Cork.

* Deliver the Narrow Water Bridge, Ulster Canal project, A5 redevelopment and the All Island Strategic Rail Review.

* Maximise the benefits of the All-Island Economy to ensure prosperity and growth, delivering social, environmental and economic benefits improving the lives of people across the island.

* Prepare for an Irish National Health Service.

* Continue the work of the North South Ministerial Council in maximising the benefits for all Citizens.

* Increase funding to the North South Research Programme by €24m each year.

* Pursuing increased cooperation between Tourism NI and Fáilte Ireland to cultivate Tourism, particularly in Border Areas.

* Work to introduce a UK-Ireland secondment programme in the Public Service.

* Collaborate on an All-Island and east-west basis on common renewable energy goals.

* Deepen collaboration between the Healthcare Services on our Island, deliver bespoke Specialist Services on an All-Ireland basis.

* Establish a joint Invest NI-IDA Ireland working group to maximise the benefits of Dual Market Access, create a North/South trade taskforce.
